Free Advice on Making Your Website More Visiable, Get More Hits, & Rank Higher on Search Engines!
RECOMMENDATION 1: Submit your site to as many search engines as possible! At the very least, get it submitted to the largest ones such as Google, MSN/Bing, Yahoo, AOL, etc. If you need help with this use our Search Engine Visibility tool.
RECOMMENDATION 2: Add your company’s full listing to the most popular business/map listings at Google, Yahoo, & MSN/Bing. This is more important than submitting to all of the smaller business listing services, especially the expensive ones.
RECOMMENDATION 3: Get linked to from other sites to your site. Cross links from other sites help considerably in search engine standings. (This is something you can do for yourselves with the only cost being your time.) Try the following:
- If you have any other companies you work with, see if it is possible to get listed on their sites.
- If you are using any social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, make sure these listings are all very professional and have all of the company contact information in the profile.
- Also if you use Flickr and YouTube, make sure these listings are all very professional and have all of the company contact information in the profile.
- Make sure that if your firm is a member of any chambers or professional organization that, if available, your online listing with them at their website is correct and complete with contact details and web address.
- Get listed in trade publications and include your website address (if you are not already).
- Make sure ALL your handout material, business cards, letterhead, etc. has your website address on it and point it our when you hand them out.
- Purchase a red stamp or stickers to add to your outgoing mail that mentions your website.
- Use your current list of emails and/or mailing list to draw traffic to the site by letting everyone know you have updated the site.
- Have a simple and inexpensive prize drawing for people who fill out the contact form on your website and push the drawing on your literature, email, and conventions/shows you attend. An inexpensive item like a $50 iPod Nano/MP3 player or other such item can really draw the numbers to the site for little cost.
