PROBLEM 1: WordPress not allowing pictures to be added or uploaded in editor.

SOLUTION: Contact your hosting service provider.  A new version of PHP server side software has come out that does not interact well with some older browsers and a few simple changes on your server can quickly fix this issue.  Since each provider is different, I cannot give the specifics, but this has corrected the issue for many o my clients.

PROBLEM 2: WordPress is running slow and getting slower.

SOLUTIONS:

    1. Check your Plug-ins.  I know this is not fun, but turn off all of your plug-ins and turn them on one by one to see which might be causing some, if not all your slow load time.  If you want a quicker method and you are using IE or Firefox, you can load FireBug which will diagnose the load time an what is taking the longer time.
    2. Cut down on data size.  Many people will load huge files to the internet and don’t expect any repercussions.  The fact is that large files take time to load and usually don’t produce any better results when viewed in the internet.  Pictures, word documents, adobe files and any other items can be reduced in size or optimized efore you upload and link them.
    3. Cache You Site!  A WordPress site is a nice database, but a database none-the-less.  Each request made on the site, even for a simple page sends the site back to the database to retrieve the files needed to show that page.  This takes time!  A simple Cache Plug-in can fix this by taking a snapshot of a webpage that can really speed up the site.  Instead of going back to the database for the files the cache program shows the latest “snapshot” of the page.  Additional benefits include not only you and your viewer’s sanity, but it can help with your SEO ranking.
    4. Hosting.  Yes, if all else fails, this could be an issue.  Check with your hosting provider to see if there is an error on the server that may be causing the problem.  See if they have any recommendations, as they have likely encountered other users having similar problems.  Just like Problem 1 above, the issue may be something really simple for your provider to adjust and get your rolling again.
